Teacher of piano

Nadia Fried completed a Master of Teaching, First Class Honours degree at the University of Sydney in 2006, specializing in music education and a Bachelor of Music, Honours degree at the University of Queensland in 1993, where she was also a recipient of the Margaret Nickson Prize for vocal accompaniment.

Nadia has continued her professional development, qualifying for the Dalcroze Eurhythmics* level two certificate in 2007 and as a Feldenkrais Method* * practitioner in 2003. After completing tertiary studies in classical piano, she undertook jazz piano studies, incorporating both genres into her performing career and teaching practice.

As a member of ‘The Libertango Trio’, Nadia has recorded live at The Basement and been selected for Musica Viva’s Country Wide touring program. She has performed at festivals, as a resident pianist in five star hotels, as a singer/pianist at various venues, and has accompanied professional opera singers, music theatre productions, jazz singers, and cabaret artists. Nadia taught piano at private schools and music studios for over fifteen years. She currently teaches classroom music to HSC level.

Nadia enjoys teaching piano through a dynamic and flexible approach, emphasizing improvisation as well as traditional music literacy skills. She caters to students of all ages, levels, and interests and enjoys the mutual process of adapting lessons to students’ individual learning styles.

*Dalcroze Eurhythmics is a music method with a focus on learning music through movement and improvisation.

** The Feldenkrais Method is a movement awareness method, similar to the Alexander Technique. In a piano teaching context, its applications are beneficial for developing a relaxed and efficient piano technique.
